COLLECTOR/CONNOISSEUR: The Max N. Berry Collections; American Art Online Sale

    19 December 2025 - 27 January 2026, New York
  • Auction overview

Christie’s is proud to present American Art from COLLECTOR/CONNOISSEUR: The Max N. Berry Collections. Representative of the passionate expertise and dedication of a connoisseur collector, this collection stunningly represents the history of American Art, from the Hudson River School and 19th‑century genre masterworks to Impressionist gems and 20th‑century Realism. One of the most important selections of American Art remaining in private hands, the Max N. Berry Collection aptly makes its market debut during Christie’s special edition of Americana Week, honouring America’s 250th anniversary.

The Online Sale features a range of highly collectible works — from rare, hand‑carved framed mirrors by Charles Prendergast to delightful illustrations by Mead Schaeffer and Oscar Berninghaus. Exciting opportunities abound, including women artists Laura Combs Hills and Anna Elizabeth Harvey, alongside a number of other singular artists offered without reserve. Featured rare artists Fidelia Bridges and Charles Ethan Porter reflect the collector’s belief that “When you find an artist you love, don’t shy away from collecting in depth.”

The online sale is open for bidding from 19 December through 27 January.
