FIRST EDITION, limited to 275 copies, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY SENDAK TO MARY JARRELL, on the front free endpaper: "Dec. '67 Dear Mary - For you - with love! Maurice the Bat," illustrations by Sendak. Printed as a Christmas keepsake in 1967 for presentation by the publishers. The inscription refers to her husband Randall Jarrell's The Bat Poet (1964), illustrated by Sendak. Rare.
