This Seafarer reference 2447 was made by Heuer for Abercrombie & Fitch, an elite outfitter of sporting goods at that time. It is an extremely rare version in the iconic Carrera reference 2447 case made in the mid-to-late 1960s and represents an elegant evolution of the Seafarer model.
In 1949, Heuer introduced the Solunar and Seafarer. Both could be set to track the tide and time that fish and animals were most active based on the solunar theory, which posited that the movement of animals and fish was affected by the location of the Moon. The Seafarer incorporated a chronograph.
Only a very small number of Seafarers in Carrera cases are known to the market and they are highly prized. The sky blue accents give this watch a sporty and distinctive look while the round pushers and dauphine hands give it a classic chronograph style. Finding an original example of this watch in unpolished condition is extraordinarily difficult, and a dream for collectors of rare sports chronographs.
