Emirati Art Reimagined: Hassan Sharif and the Contemporary Voices is a celebration of the art scene of the United Arab Emirates. The exhibition explores the career of the visionary Emirati artist Hassan Sharif, the leading figure of conceptual art in the Emirates and the Arabian Gulf. Drawn from one of the largest private collections of Hassan Sharif, the works span his time working in London in the 1980s to his death in 2015 and reflect his multi-disciplinary practive encompassing paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations. The works are available for immediate purchase via Private Sales, with highlights including Four Rectangles, Cloth 2, Sand Dollar No. 7, and Wedding A.
Alongside Sharif's body of work, the exhibition presents works by contemporary Emirati artists Mohammed Kazem, Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim, Hussain Sharif, Farah Al Qasimi, Alaa Edris, Zuhoor Al Sayegh and Taqwa Al Naqbi on loan from the Ministry of Culture and Youth, United Arab Emirates and Lawrie Shabibi Gallery, Dubai. The voices of these artists are a testament to Hassan Sharif’s legacy, whilst equally challenging artistic norms and shaping the creative landscape of the United Arab Emirates today.
