This elegant slender table is executed in precious polished steel enriched with gilt-bronze mounts. It relates to various examples of furniture supplied by Maison Jansen between the late 1950s and early 1970s. One of the most notable and characteristic projects carried out by the firm was for Maison Jansen’s director himself, Pierre Delbee, and his wife Suzy, between 1957 and 1974. For this project one of the so-called ‘Table Royale’ dining-tables was supplied, with very similar legs to the current console table; both with slender elongated legs with turned caps and capitals (James Archer Abbott, Jansen, New York, 2006, pp. 182-183).
