Tadaaki Kuwayama and Rakuko Naito

New York, 8–17 January

Tadaaki Kuwayama and Rakuko Naito, circa 1991.

Christie’s presents two concurrent private selling exhibitions celebrating the New York-based, Minimalist couple Tadaaki Kuwayama and Rakuko Naito. Born in Japan, Kuwayama and Naito were proponents of a distinct brand of Minimalism, often informed by the artistic practices and traditions of their native country.

While presented side by side, the exhibitions trace the journeys of two unique artists who, through their work, grappled with the timeless questions of material and process while carving out their own niche among the Western avant-garde.
