An historic wine auction, the Hospices de Beaune sale has been held since 1859, and run by Christie’s since 2005, to offer vins primeurs from the current year’s harvest. Proceeds from the sale support the maintenance of the modern hospital in Beaune and the town’s historic monuments. Those bidding will find themselves privy to a personal experience like no other as they select a Cuvée of either red or white wine and have it tended by a négociant of their choosing before it is bottled. This year, 43 cuvées – 30 of red wine and 13 of white wine – will be offered at auction. The tasting notes of Anthony Hanson, Master of Wine, will be available online from the week prior to the sale.
