A highlight of our 20th Century Week auction series, this June Christie’s will present The Landscape of a Mind – over 100 works from a private collection bringing together Impressionist and modern art, design, photography, Indian miniatures and post-war and contemporary art. Together, they map the surreal vision of an eclectic collector who cleverly created a dialogue between objects and artworks in the domestic settings they inhabited.
Ahead of the dedicated sale on 20 June, 13 Surrealist and Dada works from the collection will be offered in our Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale on 18 June. The selection is headlined by Yves Tanguy’s L’Extinction des especes II and René Magritte’s Le parc du vautour – both superb examples of their kind, offered at auction for the first time – and an iconic Mae West Lips Sofa by Salvador Dalí and Edward James.
