Highlights include an impressive panorama of Sprotborough Hall, near Doncaster, Yorkshire by Jan Wyck; an early sketch by Thomas Gainsborough; a group of finely observed, lively paintings of British birds by Charles Collins; a group portrait of three children by George Knapton; and an image of a young gentleman by William Verelst.

The sale also offers works by George Romney who is the subject of an exhibition recently shown at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, and which transfers to The National Portrait Gallery in London on 30 May, such as his charming portraits of Elizabeth and William White, the elegant Mrs. James Fletcher, Lady John Townshend and Nicholas Pearse.

The early Victorian section stands out with a scenic depiction of gamekeepers and salmon poachers by Frederick Richard Lee, which had been exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1876; while a group of works by Frederick Waters Watts also vies for collectors' attention.
