Sale 6583
12 June 2002, approx. 7:30 pm
(following The Bunting Collection)
8 King Street, St. James's, London

Portraits figure strongly in this season's sale and are highlighted by Sir Joshua Reynold's Self-portrait of circa 1750-2, probably painted during the artist's sojourn to Rome in 1750-52; and a fine group of equestrian portraits by Herring, Ferneley and Towne.

Collectors of Philip Reinagle can bid on two paintings of exotic flora and fauna by this artist.

Also offered is an interesting group of Victorian works on paper including a striking pen and ink study for Dante Gabriel Rossetti's painting Venus Astarte.

Walter Crane's The Fate of Persephone is an exciting discovery and promises furious bidding in the saleroom.

The Bunting Collection of Works by Sir Alfred Munnings is the centerpiece of the 20th century paintings section together with four further examples by the artist from other collections.
