Sale 2590
13 May 2003, 4:00 pm
Cornelis Schuytstraat 57, Amsterdam

Buyers came and bid on more than seventy lots of European furniture, Old Master and 19th Century paintings, European and Asian ceramics, glass and antiquities not offered at auction since World War II.

Sale results have been spectacular, with 96% sold by value and 88% sold by lot.

The highlight of the sale, a portrait of a man wearing a fur-lined coat by Jacob Elsner (1487-1517), soared to €142,450 far above a high estimate of €80,000. Across the board auction prices exceeded their pre-sale estimates.
