Moonphase watches

Moonphase watches unite technical precision with poetic design, charting the lunar cycle in miniature form. While the concept of tracking the moon’s phases has a long history, it wasn’t until the 18th and 19th centuries that moonphase complications were used in pocket watches, bringing astronomy into everyday timekeeping.

In 1925, Patek Philippe introduced one of the first moonphase wristwatches, soon followed by makers such as Rolex. Today, these timepieces remain prized not just for their high-quality craftsmanship, but also for their romantic link between horology and astronomy.
