Christie’s is delighted to announce our partnership with the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale 2024. Entitled ‘After Rain’, this edition will explore the role of a contemporary art biennial in a nation undergoing rapid social change. Featuring over 177 artworks by 100 artists from over 40 countries, alongside a diverse program of talks, performances, workshops and creative experiences, this event reflects the Diriyah Biennale Foundation’s commitment to enhancing cultural dialogue and contributing to Saudi Arabia’s vibrant artistic landscape.

The foundation hosts two alternating biennales: the Islamic Arts Biennale in Jeddah, held beneath the iconic canopy of the Western Hajj Terminal of Jeddah Airport, and the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale at JAX, a creative district with industrial heritage in the heart of Diriyah — a town that is home to the UNESCO world heritage site of Al-Turaif. Headquartered in JAX, the foundation transforms its warehouses into spaces that inspire and enable the development of homegrown creative initiatives, including the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale and the first Contemporary Art Museum in Saudi Arabia.
