There are very few published examples of this type of vase with a Qianlong mark. An example formerly in the W. W. Winkworth Collection, of the same size and with an evenly crackled pale bluish-grey glaze, was sold at Sotheby's London, 12 December 1972, lot 149. Another identical vase, possibly the present vase, was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 29 October 1991, lot 95.

Vases of related form covered in other coloured glazes have been recorded. Cf. a teadust-glazed example in the Robert Chang Collection, exhibited at Christie's London, 1993, and illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 52. A sacrificial-blue-glazed vase was included in the Min Chiu Society exhibition of Monochrome Ceramics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 1977, Catalogue, no. 43. Earlier Kangxi-marked vases of this shape but of slightly different size have been published, one with a 'winter green' glaze, illustrated in Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, 1989, p. 148, pl. 131; another covered in a celadon glaze was included in the National Palace Museum, Taibei, Special Exhibition of Ch'ing Dynasty Monochrome Glaze Porcelain, Catalogue, 1981, no. 75.
