Lady Godiva (?1040-1080), Anglo-Saxon gentlewoman famous for her legendary ride while nude through Coventry, Warwickshire.
Her husband, Leofric Earl of Mercia, agreed to decrease the taxes imposed on the population after her commitment to ride nude through a crowded marketplace.
