The figures of Putu Sutawijaya are always floating with graceful fluidity of movement with this lightness in flight taking the viewer away on a soothing, lyrical journey. This has much to do with the artist's desire to momentarily elevate the viewer's sensibilities onto a more tranquil and serene plane, away from the harsher realities of disorder and complexities in life, adding some colour to life. The work takes on a meditative pause to allow the self to contemplate on more uplifting sentiments. The figures are drawn with strong lines with no particular focus on gender or race, but rather extending this generality more to emphasise the individual's personal growth.

One may also be the reminder to the viewer to allow for distractions so that the simple and beautiful things in life can be appreciated. The movement in the work is reminiscent of the artist's own experience with traditional Balinese dance in his younger years. This work is symbolic of the artist's return to his roots, which he has grown to better appreciate, and hence exploring the traditional themes that abound in his culture.

His experience of learning the dance himself leads to a great understanding of the art form. This explains his ability to surmise the spirit of the rhythmic movement so well that he points it out in the title. The singularity of the mind, body and the spirit of the dancers are the essentials to the success of the dance. By titling it as ne, the artist guides us to view the sinuous movement in collectivity and almost in abstraction.
