Clovis Delacour was born in Châtillon-sur-Seine but worked and studied in Paris under Paul Moreau-Vauthier and Edouard Lanteri. A member of the Sociétaire des Artistes Français from 1892, he received an honorable mention at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle and also exhibited at the Royal Academy in London. Other examples of his work in ivory include his Andromeda, in the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Liverpool, and a figure of Diana, sold Sotheby's, New York, 15 June 2005, lot 181.
