A tercentenary pendant of the same design, but set with amethysts rather than sapphires, is illustrated in K. Snowman, Fabergé: Lost and Found, London, 1993, p. 126.
Holmström's tercentenary collection consisted of six different models for pendants, of which 113 examples were made (U. Tillander-Godenhielm, The Russian Imperial Award System 1894-1917, Helsinki, 2005, p. 194).

We are grateful to Dr Valentin Skurlov for helping research the present lot.
