With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch and articulated bracelet in pink gold with 47 diamonds of an approximate weight of 1.50 carats in 1949, and its subsequent sale on December 20th of the same year.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.

Patek Philippe is known to both collectors and non-collectors alike for producing some of the finest watches ever made, as well as for creating some of the most beautifully designed watches for ladies in the 20th century. Patek Philippe's ladies watches often featured decorations such as enamel work, gemstones, and engravings in a wide range of design motifs. The shell motif on the present watch reflects the creativity of Patek Philippe and allows the piece to be worn as both a functional watch and a piece of jewelry. During the 1940's, Patek Philippe ladies watches often featured a small dial and leather or cord strap. It was not until the 1950's that the firm began to design larger and heavier pieces that functioned as jewelry as well. This particular watch is a fine example of the beginning of Patek Philippe's foray into larger pieces of ladies watches that function as jewelry.
