'I write to ask if you would do us the honour in lending us four or five of your paintings...The object of the exhibition is to familiarise the many Egyptian students of our Institute, members of the British Community, and the general public with the best examples of contemporary Egyptian painting...May I add that I have for a long time been a keen admirer of your work of which I have seen alas only the few examples on view at the International Exhibition of 1949 and in the Musée d'Art Moderne of Cairo.'
