拍品专文

The view taken from Malabar Hill, rising to 180 feet, the most desirable residential district in Mumbai from the early 19th century on, when Governor Elphinstone built his bungalow on the site. The hill is the western part of the peninsula which separates Mumbai harbour from the Arabian Sea. Van Ruith's view looks down on Back Bay, to the south east of the city, with Chowpatty Beach in the foreground.
