This possibly unique lamp is a variant of another Favrile glass peacock lamp commissioned by Charles W. Gould. The Gould lamp is in the collection of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and differs from the present example in that the shade is supported by three enamel-on-copper heads edged in identical beetle stringing. The Peacock Scarab lamp is thought to have been made in a series of fives with similar elements but differing in size, shape and ornament.
