‘Possibly the earliest use of Woollett’s engraving as a source for work in another media was a needlepoint panel of The Death of General Wolfe exhibited by M. Ansell at the Society of Artists in 1776. Late-eighteenth-century needlepoint reproductions of West’s image appear from time to time in the antique market, and there is one in Quebec House, in Westerham, Kent, the birthplace of General Wolfe.’ (A. McNairn, Behold the Hero, General Wolfe and the Arts in the Eighteenth Century, Quebec, 1997, p.156).
