Holding a lotus bud to his chest in the right hand and clad in heavy robes with stylized folds, the bearded face with downcast expression and surmounted by a court hat, the figure raised on a base with pendent petal-form drapery and that falls to just above an inscription

The inscription states that the figure was donated by Yan Daosheng in the fifth month of the 16th year of the Datong reign, corresponding to AD 550 (during the Western Wei dynasty of the reign of Emperor Wendi).
