AN ARCHAISTIC OPAQUE JADE CHIME
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The curved plaque is carved on both sides as an archaistic bird with hooked beak, wings, a clawed foot, curled tail feathers and scrolls on the body, as well as a small archaistic bird on the lower edge. The tail feathers and beak have openings for suspension. The stone shades from pale grey green to reddish brown in color. Together with Centrium Voor Kunst En Cultuur, China Cultuur Vroeger en Nu, St. Pietersbdij, 1979, and H. A. van Oort, Chinese kunst, 1980.
