拍品专文

The Mondrian series by Jirapat is an interesting series, as contrary to conventional understanding, he uses the black grid in Mondrian's paintings as a metaphor for a rigid system imposed by the West on the East.  It could possibly allude to the rigid system of Western art imposed on Eastern artists, or it may be interpreted as well as a Western domination and sway of the East politically. Sucreep who is one of the monkeys in Hanuman's army in the Ramakien epic is seen tearing the grid here in an effort to destroy these boundaries.
