The square top with molded edge over a recessed waist is set above a bracket-shaped apron carved with leafy scrolls with beaded edge, continuing to the cabriole legs terminating in scroll and foliate-carved feet.

Low tables of square or rectangular form were made to be used in northern China on brick couches, or kang. Compare to a square kang table with dragon carvings previously in the Feng Wen Tang Collection, sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, 3 June 2015, Lot 2863.
