A PAIR OF ‘CHICKEN BLOOD’ STONE SEALS
LATE QING DYNASTY/REPUBLIC PERIOD SIGNED QI BAISHI (1863 - 1957)
Both are incised on the upper left corner of one vertical side with the signature, Baishi. One is carved on the seal face in intaglio with the name of the recipient, Yuzawa, the other in relief with a three-character inscription, wei zhi yuan.

Together with a small seal, the seal face also carved in intaglio with Yuzawa; a post card addressed to Mr. Ito from Qi Baishi; a folio of miscellaneous poetry and letter paper, shijian and xinjian; a black coloured man’s jacket, magua, and an ochre man’s long padded robe, pao.

The seal faces on the present pair of seals were carved by the renowned painter Qi Baishi for Michio Yuzawa (1888-1963), the Japanese cabinet minister during early Showa period.
Each seal: 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) high, paper box
