With Daniel Roth undated Guarantee Certificate, instruction manual, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.

Daniel Roth found his love for watchmaking when he was a child, inspired by his grandfather and great grandfather who were both watchmakers. From early age Roth would play and work at his grandfather’s watch repair shop and it did not take before Roth began his career as a watchmaker at a smaller watch atelier in La Valle de Joux after receiving his diploma from a Watchmaking school in Niece. By the time he was 30 Roth already had experience working at Audemars Piguet in La Brussus where he fine tuned his craft to become master watchmaker and armed with confidence and years of solid experience, he decided to leave Audemars Piguet to join the nearly dying watch manufacturer, Breguet. Roth single handedly brought Breguet back to the competitive world of watchmaking by redesigning and introducing the complications such as the perpetual calendar and tourbillon to Breguet’s contemporary collection. He spent 14 years with the brand and only decided to leave after the owner of Breguet had to sell up due legal and business complications.
In 1989, Daniel Roth managed to established his own brand by entering an agreement with Siber Hegner, an international distributor, while also securing a large loan from the bank. The experience and skills that Daniel Roth had learnt from working at Audemars Piguet and Breguet had benefited him and taught him to create watches which were both innovative and of high quality. When Roth’s name started to become more familiar among watch collectors and connoisseurs, Siber Hegner, his main watch distributor decided to end the agreement with Roth. This eventually led to the result of Roth selling 51% of his company’s share to The Hour Glass, who then sold them on to Bvlgari in 2000.
Mr. Roth’s business endeavors has been a roller-coaster ride of brands revived, launched, and lost. Undoubtedly, the watches which he used to produce with his own hands under his own name will continue to be appreciated by true watch connoisseurs. The present lot displays a fine example of Roth watches as it displays his signature barrel-shaped case with a double-dialed tourbillon that no modern watch can be compared to.
