NOTE:
The recipient of the Painting Wang Li (1900-1986) was born in Bobai of Guangxi. He was a linguist, educator, translator, writer and poet. He enrolled in Tsinghua University in 1926, and went to France to study in 1927, later appointed as professor at Peking University in 1957. He made significant contributions to the develoment of the discipline of Linguistics in China, published many academic writings and was regarded as one of the founders of Linguistics in China.
