YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735)

Similar aubergine-glazed dishes with incised pomegranate scrolls include an example in the Museum of East Asian Art, Bath, illustrated in Inaugural Exhibition - Chinese Ceramics, vol. 1, 1993, no. 203, p. 257, and one from the E. T. Hall collection, sold at Christie’s London, 7 June 2004, lot 124. Another similar example from the Meiyintang Collection is illustrated by R. Krahl in Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, Volume Two, London, 1994, p. 228, no. 891. The design of the Eight Buddhist Emblems appear to be more common than that of scrolling pomegranates on dishes of this type. See, for example, the dish illustrated by J.
