This rare and distinct type of white-glazed porcelain figure of Guanyin with finely painted hair details in dark pigments, is known to be associated with a group of Guanyin figures produced by Tang Ying (1682-1756), who was the head of Imperial porcelain workshop in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province during the reigns of the Yongzheng and Qianlong Emperors from 1728 to 1756.The most well-known figure of in this group of seated Guanyin, inscribed with a four-character mark Tang Ying jin zhi (respectfully made by Tang Ying), and dated to the Qianlong period, is currently the collection of Tianjin Museum.
