Every aspect of this incredibly attractive watch is remarkable in its design and level of finishing. With the ‘Friedrich III’ model, Lang & Heyne have returned to the essence of watchmaking in Saxony. It perfectly fits the company’s mission statement to ‘create form and function with the highest precision, perfection and harmony’.
With an impressive presence on the wrist, the solid and heavy pink gold case exudes true luxury in its simplicity. The three-lug design is a ‘signature’ of Lang & Heyne, adding more stability to the strap it also balances the aesthetic with the protected large rounded crown. A transparent display back allows a clear view of the spectacular movement. In the classic Saxon tradition, the wheels are made of gold as is the pallet fork, the balance cock is hand engraved, and above the balance wheel is a diamond endstone. The jewels are set in gold chatons held by handmade blued steel screws and the brass plates are decorated using a method from the 18th and 19th centuries, the result is a fine grained surface which is then gold plated. The superb dial is made of solid silver with a black galvanic finish, white Roman numerals and subsidiary running seconds. Beautiful pink gold ‘Cathedral’ hands complete the ensemble.
