Femme assise has had the distinction of a very prominent provenance. It was in the collection of the artist André Lhote in 1958, and later owned by Peter Adams. The Peter Adams Etruscan Collection was exhibited at the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology in Oxford and his wife was painted twice by André Lhote.
