Longquan vases of this type, with an openwork body enclosing an inner body are quite rare. A similar pair from the Meiyintang Collection, was sold at Poly Hong Kong, 2 December 2021, lot 3594. A Longquan celadon vase of the same shape, with similar handles and design, dated c. 1450-1550, is illustrated by J. Harrison-Hall in Ming Ceramics In The British Museum, London, 2001, dated c. 1450-1550. Also illustrated is a Longquan pear-shaped double vase with openwork design, dated c. 1522-1620, is pp. 475-76, no. 16:35.
