The Patek Philippe Nautilus Reference 5711 is a faithful yet contemporary reinterpretation of the original design, which was first introduced in 2006 as a tribute to the iconic Nautilus reference 3700 created by Gérald Genta in 1976. Crafted with a three-part case that is 1 mm wider and slightly thicker than the reference 3700, it introduces a sapphire display back that reveals the movement inside, while remaining nearly identical aesthetically.
The model instantly caught the interest of Patek Philippe collectors since it was equipped with a sweep center seconds hand in addition to the date function. It has since become a must-have item in modern collections due to its well-balanced proportions, elegant development of the Nautilus design, and everyday wearability. During the initial months of production, the calibre 315 SC powered the first examples. Later, calibre 324 SC, which is installed in the present timepiece, took its place.
