As interest in India spread across Europe in the early twentieth century, Jacques Cartier began sourcing gemstones directly from India to serve the firm’s international clientele. His designs incorporated distinctly Indian elements, notably emeralds which were long associated with royal power, prosperity, and the opulence of Indian courts.

This enduring exchange reached its height during the Art Deco period, producing India-inspired jewels for Western clients alongside reimagined Indian gemstones for princely patrons. The present bracelet exemplifies Cartier’s mastery of blending Eastern inspiration with Art Deco elegance.
