Christie’s Wine and Spirits Department in the Americas is delighted to present a Los Angeles online auction showcasing some of California’s finest wines. This sale will feature rare and exclusive bottlings from the celebrated collection of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars.
Founded by Warren Winiarski, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars achieved international recognition just three years after its inception. The landmark 1973 vintage decisively placed Napa Valley in the minds of serious collectors. At the historic 1976 Judgment of Paris tasting, the 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon was tasted blind and selected above some of Bordeaux’s most esteemed châteaux.
Fifty years on from that defining moment, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars has entered a new chapter under the ownership of Marchesi Antinori, Italy’s renowned wine‑producing family. Celebrated for icons such as Tignanello, Antinori has long been credited with introducing innovative grape varieties and winemaking practices that reshaped modern Tuscan viticulture.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the world’s most significant blind wine tasting, Christie’s will offer a selection of foundational bottlings from this pivotal era. The sale will be open for bidding from 1–13 July 2026.
Consignments are invited until 19 June 2026. For a complimentary and confidential valuation, please contact wine@christies.com, or use our online auction estimate tool to explore the possibilities.
