Art from antiquity to the 21st century

  • Event date 30 June - 8 July
  • Event location London
This summer, Classic Week returns to London as part of our vibrant Summer Season, celebrating art and objects that span millennia, from antiquities and Old Master paintings to decorative arts, rare books, furniture and sculpture.

This season’s auctions feature standout works across diverse collecting categories, including two superlative paintings by the Dutch master Jan van Huysum, known as the ‘Phoenix of Flower Painters.’

Fruit and Flowers in a Wicker Basket and Flowers in a Terracotta Vase, both richly detailed, tightly composed still lifes, last appeared on the market more than 20 years ago, when they set new auction records for the artist.

These will be joined by Bellotto’s monumental view of Venice, The Bacino di San Marco, a must-see example of the artist's practice.

The Van Huysum works will be on view in New York and Hong Kong, while the Bellotto will be shown exclusively in New York. All three will then travel to London for the Old Masters Evening Sale on 30 June.
