Lost Forests by Natasha Wightman
Lost Forests by Natasha Wightman

Event date 8–22 OCT -
Event location LONDON
On view from 8–22 October, the exhibition will open during our flagship 20th/21st Century Art sale series and continue alongside the Modern British and Irish Art auction preview.
This collection is Wightman’s response to our fragile ecosystem, which she believes must be nurtured and revalued. Each sculptural jewellery piece is carved from ancient British bog oak, a sub-fossilised wood preserved underground for millennia. Working with master artisans, Wightman brings to life the timelessness of the material through her series of works. The collection also features portraits of a new generation of British conservationists, whose work mirrors her own ethos.
In addition to Lost Forests, visitors will also have the opportunity to view two immersive films and experience Forest Cathedral, a large sculptural piece which the viewer is invited to touch. The sculpture evokes the physical impact the artist experienced when first encountering the bog oak’s tangible prehistoric presence.
Lost Forests reimagines Britain’s wild places through the lens of wearable art, an exploration of nature, time and cultural legacy. Mark your calendar and visit Christie’s King Street this October to be among the first to experience the collection in person.

About Natasha Wightman

Natasha Wightman is a British artist working across multiple disciplines. Her early training at Elmhurst Ballet School between the ages of 10 and 16 instilled in her a deep sensitivity to movement, precision, and artistic expression, qualities that continue to inform her creative practice today. With a commitment to placing British arts at the heart of her work, Wightman has also directed a series of films accompanying her works, collaborating with dancers from The Royal Ballet, Team GB Olympic breakers, and leading contemporary dancers.
Dedicated to the preservation of traditional craftsmanship, Wightman works closely with some of the UK’s most esteemed master artisans. Through her work, she ensures that their rare skills and time-honoured techniques are not only sustained but celebrated as integral elements of British cultural heritage. The results are intricate artworks that appear to emanate from another time and another world. Each piece is interwoven with layers of stories; the narrative of her materials, the symbolism of the design, the wilderness they depict and the deep history of ancient techniques employed. Through her exploration of Britain’s fragile landscapes and ecosystems, Wightman celebrates their resilience, acknowledges their vulnerability, and reminds us of what is at risk and is in need of our protection.
