With rebrowned twist sighted barrels signed in full on the rib, engraved case-hardened breeches each with gold line and gold-lined touch-hole, grooved tang engraved with flowerheads and foliage, case-hardened stepped bevelled locks (steels refaced, comb of one cock missing) each with roller, and rainproof pan (working replacements), and oval gold-lined maker's stamp (gold incomplete), figured walnut half-stock (fore-end with minor crack), chequered grip, blued steel mounts including trigger-guard and butt-plate each engraved with a dog and two duck, the former fitted with a later engraved blued grip-safety, blued trigger-plate with large pineapple finial, silver escutcheon engraved with owner's crest and initials, brass-mounted ramrod, and some original finish: in original refitted oak case lined in green velvet with some accessories including brass-mounted ramrod and cleaning rod, the lid with illustrated William Ling trade label for circa 1838-1863, the outside with flush-fitting carrying handle engraved 'Sir Harford Jones Bart.', London proof marks
