Circular, with a rim flaring in width at the very edge, the guard is pierced with a necklace of complete and partial spokes, each carved with a fine central groove terminating in a gold hon zogan dot; at top and bottom are single kiri-mon and forming the ryu-hitsu are four feather-form stalks of leaflets terminating in kara-mon, unsigned, height 7.7 cm
