Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734-1791), an 'architecte et professeur pour le dessein' as he styled himself in 1747, was one of the most influential designers in the avant-garde neo-classical styles of the 1760's and 1770's. His work became widely known through his Nouvelle Iconolgie Historique, first published in 1767, whose engraved latyed provided a cpmpendious range of objects in the new styles.
