A FINE STEEL BOWIE KNIFE BY JAMES RODGERS (SHEFFIELD)
The cast steel blade with a double-edged spear point and trade mark, the ricasso impressed with the maker's mark, the blade etched with the inscription 'I Never Fail' amid bold foliate-scrollwork on a matt ground, the reverse of the blade plain, the quillons with ball finials, the carved rosewood grip with a white metal escutcheon
9in. blade, approximately 15in. overall
In its dark red tooled leather scabbard with white metal mounts (one missing)
