FIRST EDITION. Blackmer 1550; Lowndes 2411. "Slade was attached to the British Squadon in the Mediterranean from 1834 to 1836, when he was employed on several missions to Greece and Constantinople by Sir Josias Rowley, head of the Squadron. His book is very interesting, with a great deal of realistic comment on the state of Greece and Turkey. He was pro-Turkish and concerned with Russian policy in the East." (Blackmer). (2)
