Signed Kyoto ju Komai Sei, Meiji Period (Late 19th Century)
The large iron dish with a scalloped rim, the central roundel in gold nunomezogan and high relief with the figures of two rakkan, one holding an open book and the other a shrine containing a Buddhist jewel, surrounded by a band of grapes and vines, the rest of the dish decorated in numerous reserves in gold nunome and silver hon-zogan borders with a ho-o in clouds, a dragon in waves, Tekkai sennin blowing out his soul, two children at play, ships at anchor, amongst sedge and many varieties of flower and shippo designs, the outer border with another band of grapes and vines
