This image was shot on location in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia for Levi's. Winther and a team of 20 professionals coached the models, outfitted with lead shoes, on the art of riding sharks. This image of an urban hipster catching a ride on a massive predator was made without digital manipulation and combines visual elegance with danger -- a characteristic approach in Winther's works.
Winther, a photographer and director, has created dozens of worldwide advertising campaigns, including work for Diesel, Nike, Coca-Cola and Sony. He has brought his unique vision to directing the music videos of artists as diverse as Björk, INXS and the Beastie Boys. Winther lives and works in New York.
