The "Jumbo" Nautilus, was advertised as the most expensive steel watch available on the market upon its debut in 1976. The model sports an impressively large, flat and minimalistic look reminiscent of designer Gerald Genta's highly successful "Royal Oak" for Audemars Piguet. Production of the model ended in 1986.

Reference 3700/1 and calibre 28-255 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, 1998, p. 230 and 231.
