This work is a replica of an Andrea della Robbia wall plaque made especially for the German Pavillion at the LII Venice Biennale, 2007.

Isa Genzken is one of the most significant artists in Germany today. Her work operates against a backdrop of a society of consumption and the manipulative mechanisms of mass media. Her aesthetic combines highly seductive materials such as mirrors, glossy paint, and colored glass with industrial materials like brick, metal and plastic. Genzken explores the relationships between different media and social, political and urban spaces. For over thirty years, she has been creating a multi-facetted oeuvre, which is continuously developing and revealing new approaches. Her extensive work consists of sculptures and installations, photos, collages and films. In 2006 Genzken was represented at the German Pavilion of the 52nd Venice Biennial. She has received many awards including the Wolfgang Hahn Prize, Museum Ludwig, Cologne (2002) and the International Art Award of the Kulturstiftung der SSK Mnchen (2004). Recent solo exhibitions include Sport, Camden Arts Centre, London (2005) ; See History 2006, Schätze bilden, Kunsthalle Kiel, Kiel (2006); Isa Genzken, Galerie im Taxispalais, Innsbruck (2005); Isa Genzken, Vienna Secession, Vienna (2006); and Isa Genzken: Hair grows how it wants to, Malmo Konsthall, Malmo (2008). Selected group exhibitions include Documenta 11, Kassel (2002); Occupying Space, Sammlung Generali Foundation, Haus der Kunst, München (2005); and Skulptur Projekte Munster 07, Munster (2007).
