FIRST EDITION. The first volume of one of the great Russian publishing projects of the 19th century. The codification of Russian arms was decreed by Emperor Paul I; publication began in the reign of Alexander and was continued by Nicholas I. Because of this serial publication complete sets are of great rarity. Ulianinskii 3724; Vengerov, Bibliokhronika, vol. 2, pp.70-73.
